disc me sideways

New printed disk today. Was in early on Monday to book out time on the print beds as its getting into crazy season with regards to print time so myself and sander were waiting patiently at half eight on Monday morning to sign up for an almost full weeks printing time. Anyway so after printing up a small edition of 16 of the previous paper pieces I trial'd a new design on the plaster, so far have had several people comment on it which is nice but always puts me on edge, no idea why just always has and always will. dont feel there is enough work in it myself but we shall see what happens. anyway TA DA......

carved disk

So after casting up a large plaster master for making a new rubber mould i couldnt resist carving into it instead of letting it dry up and become useless so here is the results, quite happy with it though been a while since i did any real carving and there for some of the lettering is abit out but a good start, more to come i think. Size is based on a 10" record with a depth of about 1.5" or there abouts.

new paper print and plaster disc update

New paper print from last week, three colour screen print on fabriano 5.
using seps for plaster disc printing wanted to trial these just on paper and really pleased with the results. Not a complicated print by any accounts but feel it is well balanced. Edition of twenty or thirty to follow i think.

Bottom image is a group shot of the four current designs in their early stages the simple single colour print on plaster is really quite alluring so some will be left as is though all will change with time as I find it quite disconcerting being happy with a single layer print without working into it more. This quality is more reminiscent of the project space work done by Iain Sutherland and myself last year which had a nice quality to it but not what i want as the defining feature of this current work. Apologies for the crappy image, close ups to follow.....
Also after tutorial with Graeme Todd on Monday new plaster disc sizes are in the offing, based around vinyl record sizes.

Pinhole Gloryhole

New pinhole image taken in Perthshire a couple of weeks ago, waited for a while before developing so think the container let in light over time unfortunately making the image way too over exposed. After a while playing with photoshop it came out ok, really like the faint ghost like quality and the marks from my greasy fingers on the surface of the paper. Any way heres the image for what it is, thanks again to William Mokrynski for the help and patience dealing with a photography NOOB.
